Discover Our Story

Mohammed Kadir, is the owner and head chef at Kadir’s Indian Portsmouth. Inspired by food found on the streets of India, Kadir is passionate about bringing Indian cuisine to the streets of Portsmouth.

Kadir’s career started in 1979 after choosing to leave his studies at Nuneaton Polytechnic to join his family’s restaurant business in Kidderminster, which is where his passion for experimenting and cooking with spices began.

5 Years later in 1984, Kadir and the rest of his family moved to Portsmouth and he has since successfully run Indian Restaurants.

In between cooking for the people of Portsmouth Kadir also found time to write a delicious lamb recipe which was featured in the 1986’s Good Curry Guide by renowned Indian food author Pat Chapman.

Kadir spends his precious spare time with his wife and his children. He enjoys eating out at different restaurants and enjoys all kinds of foods. He has recently taken some time out, however is back and very much looking forward to serving the people of Portsmouth again!

So please come to Kadir’s ready to have fun with us. We hope as you pass through our doors, you will feel the hospitality spirit of our beloved India, where it is always an honor to feed a guest.
